Dedication Ceremony in honour of Constable Edward O’Neill
On Tuesday 3 May, we were proud to honour the life and service of Constable Edward O’Neill with the dedication of the Oncology Treatment Ward at Wimmera Cancer Centre, Horsham named in his honour. It was a fitting tribute for Constable O’Neill who had served his country with distinction on the First World War battlefields and his state in his role with Victoria Police.
Constable O’Neill joined Victoria Police in December 1920 and sadly died 3 May 1922 from injuries sustained in an accident riding his police horse. He lived a life of serving his community and that service will continue with the new Oncology Treatment Ward facilities.
We thank all the members of the O’Neill family who joined us at the Ceremony and we also thank Acting Assistant Commissioner Deb Robertson who presented the Victoria Police Star to Ward O’Neill the grandson of Constable Edward O’Neill.
Congratulation to our Blue Ribbon Foundation Horsham and all their volunteers, sponsors and the local community for their commitment to see this dedication come to life.
