The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation is a not for profit charity that is reliant on community support to fund projects to honour Victoria Police members who have died in the line of duty.
With your support we can continue to fund projects such as providing new and upgraded public hospital services and equipment named in honour of the police who had died whilst servicing our community. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Tax-deductible donations to the Blue Ribbon Foundation are primarily used to fund new and improved medical facilities in Victoria’s public hospitals that are then named in memory of Victoria Police members who have died in the line of duty. We have already funded sixty-nine dedicated units, with forty-four of them in our regional hospitals. Your generous support enables us to remember lives by saving others.
OUR RECENT ESSENTIAL PROJECT
The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation supports a range of worthwhile projects in our community, none more important than the life-saving facilities we have installed in Victoria’s public hospitals. Today the Peninsula Branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation continues that life-saving work through the dedication of the new ECMO Intensive Care Unit at Frankston Hospital.
Peninsula Health has two Emergency Departments, one at Frankston Hospital and one at Rosebud Hospital that see over 100,000 emergency presentations each year. With a broad catchment area covering the entire Mornington Peninsula, from Cranbourne to Cannons Creek, Blind Bight through to Chelsea, the demand on the Emergency service is significant.
ECMO, short for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, is a “life-saving procedure in which an external compact heart-lung support system is connected to the critically ill patient, giving them the best chance of survival. People all over the world have ECMO to thank for making it possible to live and breathe another day.
Patients with serious cardiac or lung issues require immediate stabilisation and/or transfer. Transfer is not a viable proposition for critical patients where every minute matters. ECMO systems can be rapidly deployed to mimic the function of the heart and lungs, rescuing these patients, acting as a bridge to recovery or transplantation, or enabling us to optimise care for a range of emergency situations in Intensive Care.
