Grampians ‘Ride to Remember’

Grampians ‘Ride to Remember’ was held on Sunday 4 Feb and was a huge success, we congratulate the Ararat Branch and the sub committee involved in organising this event. Over 500 riders supported the event with the 234km ride through the Grampians district. Proceeds of this event will go towards vital medical facilities and equipment for the East Grampians Health Service.

Our Bendigo and Shepparton branches are both holding Inside Story events. Inside Story events provide you with a rare insight into the police investigations undertaken to solve some of Victoria’s most notable crimes. Presentations by the lead detectives will give you a chance to see and hear details not covered by the media and gain an understanding of those prosecuted.

This morning we were privileged to support a recognition service for Constable Kate Campbell the first policewoman for Tasmania Police in 1917. Kate was from Launceston but settled in Victoria after she left Tasmania Police.

The ceremony was conducted at St Arnaud cemetery. Tasmania Commissioner of Police Darren Hine and Acting Chief Commissioner Victoria Police Shane Patton were both in attendance.

In 2017, both states are celebrating 100 years of women in policing.
