The Clyde Smith Emergency Resuscitation Unit

Rosebud Hospital

The Peninsula Branch of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation provided funding for the installation of a modern emergency resuscitation unit at Rosebud Hospital. Prior to its opening patients requiring intensive resuscitation care were transported to Frankston Hospital. A donation of $50,000 assisted in the funding of the ERU at Rosebud Hospital and the overall funding commitment to Peninsula Health also allowed for the purchase of Glidescope equipment at both Frankston & Rosebud which is linked electronically for remote consultation by specialized doctors.

The unit at Rosebud was dedicated as a Police Memorial in memory of Constable Clyde James Smith (7913) who died in the line of duty from a gunshot wound in January 1935.
