The George Taylor Resuscitation Unit

Echuca Hospital

The Emergency Resuscitation Unit at Echuca Hospital provides emergency life support for patients presenting at the Emergency Department. A donation from the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon enabled the purchase of a portable, state of the art, patient ventilator that can also be carried by an ambulance to administer life support onsite. This was a joint project between the Blue Ribbon Foundation and the local community through the Echuca Branch.

In 2011 further equipment was purchased for the hospital’s emergency department as a cost of $18,066.

The Unit was dedicated as Police Memorial in memory of Constable George Taylor who was murdered in 1920. On Monday 15th March, 1920 Constable Taylor attempted to arrest Timothy Bennett who had exhibited symptoms of mental illness. Bennett produced a hand gun and fired at Taylor, fatally wounding him.
