Neil Clinch Paediatric Emergency High Acuity Unit

Northern Hospital Epping

The Northern Metro Branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation donated funds to Northern Health to assist with a redevelopment of the Emergency Department and in particular, to install improved Emergency Dept facilities for children at Northern Hospital Epping.

The funding has added state of the art monitoring capability to four cubicles in the Paediatric Emergency Department. This equipment will allow clinicians  to manage the vast majority of high acuity presentations. The four cubicles has high flow oxygen equipment to support management of asthma and bronchiolitis patients who require respiratory support.  Further, the project includes a Neonatal Resuscitaire for the monitoring and management of unwell newborns and infants.

This unit was dedicated as a Police Memorial to honour Constable Neil Clinch, VA who died in the line of duty – 5 April 1987.
